General Description
A widely used membrane for different blotting applications that has high affinity for protein binding, supplied pre-cut in 8.5cm x 7.5cm and 10cm x 10cm sizes with blotting paper to make it ready to use. It also demonstrates a high level of compatibility with different detection methods, such as chemiluminescent and chromogenic, etc.
Nitrocellulose membranes are a popular matrix commonly incorporated in protein blotting techniques, employing their high protein-binding affinity, compatibility with various detection methods (chemiluminescence, chromogenic, and fluorescence), and the membrane’s ability to immobilize proteins, glycoproteins, or nucleic acids. Protein immobilization is believed to be a result of hydrophobic interactions. During the process of electrophoretic transfer, high salt and low methanol concentrations help improve protein immobilization to the membrane, especially for higher molecular weight proteins.
